⚡️ Get Ready for Your Tattoo Adventure
Before you sit in the chair and let the magic happen, here are a few pro tips to make your session smooth, stress-free, and as enjoyable as possible.
1️⃣ Fuel Up & Hydrate
✅ Eat a solid meal and drink plenty of water before your appointment.
If you’re in for a longer session, bring a snack and a sports drink to keep your energy up.
No one wants to pass out mid-session — especially me!
2️⃣ Skip the Booze & Buzz
🚫 No alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or caffeine before your appointment.
These thin your blood (and that’s no bueno for tattooing).
Also — it’s literally illegal for me to tattoo you if you’re tipsy, so save the celebratory drinks for after!
3️⃣ Dress for Success
👕 Wear loose, comfy clothing that gives easy access to your tattoo area.
If I have to wrestle your outfit just to get to your skin, we’ve got a problem.
4️⃣ Pre-Tattoo Skin Care
🛁 The morning of your appointment:
Gently exfoliate and moisturize to keep your skin happy and prepped.
Avoid sunburns like the plague — crispy skin is a no-go for tattooing.
5️⃣ Take It Easy on the Gym Gains
🏋️ Give those muscles a rest for a couple of days before your appointment.
Sore, tense muscles + tattoo needles = not a fun time.
🩹 Tattoo Aftercare
(Tegaderm / Saniderm / DermShield or regular wrap)
1️⃣ Clear Bandage Phase (First 3–5 Days)
Leave the bandage on 3–5 days.
Edges peeling? Totally fine — just make sure it’s not lifting over the tattoo.
Fluid under the film? Normal! That’s your body healing.
No soaking or submerging — avoid swimming, hot tubs, and baths. Showers are fine.
When ready to remove:
Take it off in the shower under warm water.
Wash gently with Dial Gold or another antibacterial soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a small amount of unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Aveeno, Cetaphil, or CeraVe).
🚫 Avoid heavy ointments like Aquaphor, Vaseline, or A&D — they can clog pores and pull out ink.
2️⃣ If You’re Wrapped Instead (No Clear Bandage)
Keep the wrap on at least 2 hours, or overnight if the tattoo is large.
Then wash with Dial Gold, pat dry, and apply a small amount of unscented lotion.
If it gets really scabby or irritated, you can use a tiny bit of Aquaphor or A&D — think chapstick amount, no shine.
3️⃣ Ongoing Care (2–3 Weeks)
Wash, dry, and moisturize 2–3 times a day.
No submerging the tattoo for the entire healing process — showers only.
A little flaking or shine is normal.
Avoid direct sunlight and don’t pick or scratch.
If your bandage leaks or lifts early, remove it and follow the washing steps above.
